The Seymour Johnson AFB Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) is designed to provide complete veterinary medical care for all Government owned animals and to provide for the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases (transmitted from animal to man).
We are NOT a full service clinic. We do not have an on site veterinarian. Our veterinarian is from Cherry Point, usually two days a week when available. We do not see sick or injured animals and we offer no surgeries. Emergencies can be handled by your local veterinarian or ECVETS in Wilson @ 252-265-9920.
We recommend calling before coming. When we are closed a phone message, as well as signage on the door, will inform you of office hours. All clinic visits are by appointment only, so please call us at (919) 722-1465.
Military Pet Owner Information
Services Available: All services are on a space available basis. There are times due to veterinarian shortages when no veterinary appointments are available for a period of time. However, some services may still be available during that period.
- Dogs: Rabies, DA2PP, Kennel Cough, Lepto, fecal check, heartworm checks, micro chip, deworming, anal gland expression, nail trim, Wellness exams
- Cats: Rabies, FVRCP, Leukemia, fecal check, FELV/FIV testing, deworming, nail trim, Wellness exams
Wellness exams will be required for all services. All heartworm prevention, as with any prescription item, must meet certain requirements before it can be sold. A current heartworm test from any vet and a Wellness exam done by us yearly will satisfy the client-patient relationship required to purchase this item.
Supplies for sale include Frontline Plus, Heartgard Plus, vitamins, some shampoos, other flea products. A User Fee of $2 is added to all total purchases.
Vaccination and microchip implantation services will be procured at the owner’s expense for all cats and dogs at the local VTF or via civilian veterinary medical service providers. Microchips should be International Standards Organization (ISO) compatible to help facilitate overseas travel.
There is no charge for base registration, unless the animal has a requirement that needs to be met. We recommend making an appointment for registration so the records can be checked and info can be given about heartworm prevention and flea and tick issues in this area.
Breeding is NOT allowed on base. Tne number of pets is limited to a total of two cats and/or dogs.
