Outdoor Recreation Adventure Park

The Outdoor Recreation Adventure Park is your hub for year-round adventure programs, equipment rental, ticket sales, and more! Outdoor Rec (ODR) oversees FamCamp, an RV Storage Lot, as well as seasonal operations of the Olympic Pool and Splash Pad. Additional facilities under the ODR umbrella include Debden and Kimpo Parks, trails, an archery area, and a log cabin. Outdoor Recreation (ODR) is dedicated to providing exciting activities that take full advantage of the local terrain and weather conditions. We can also provide you with the tools and supplies for your own adventures! Check out our rental campers, bounce houses, utility trailers, and more!

Programs & Services

Outdoor Recreation offers a wide range of facilities, services, programs including a large equipment rental center offering everything from campers and camping equipment to bounce houses, power tools and much more.

  • Equipment Rental

    Outdoor Recreation Operation Center offers a wide range of recreational equipment for a small service charge to all active-duty military, retired military, reservists, civilian employees, and family members 18 years of age or older. Campers and camping equipment, picnic gear, sporting equipment, outdoor games, bicycles, and other recreational supplies are available for rent.   • FamCamp

    The Seymour Johnson AFB FamCamp is surrounded by heavily forested areas and tucked far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the base to ensure quiet relaxation, but close enough that several key support facilities and parks are within easy walking distance. Open year-round, the facility features 16 concrete parking pads, a gravel overflow area, a dump station, bathhouses, laundry, picnic tables, grills, handicapped accessibility, and area lighting.

    Outdoor Recreation here at Seymour Johnson AFB is a uniquely organized outfitter that allows you to sit back, relax, and let us do the planning for you. We have a multitude of activities that are exciting, challenging, and educational for the beginner and expert. A variety of programs are offered year-round from Camping, Biking, Ziplining, Skydiving, Whitewater Rafting, Horseback Riding, and more!

    Active Duty and Reservists are eligible for discounted program prices through the three programs offered through the Recharge for Resiliency (R4R) Program:

    • Single Airman Programs: Air Force Active Duty officer or enlisted member without a spouse or geographically single.
    • RecOn Programs: Air Force Active Duty and reserve component members and their spouses and dependents.
    • Deployed Affected Programs: Deployed-affected and dependent restricted assigned Air Force personnel and their family members. Eligible from time of orders to deploy up to 1 year following the return of service member.


  • RV Storage

    Outdoor Recreation manages the RV storage lot on base.

    $35 per month if you reside off base

  • Driving Range

    Interested in the driving range? Tokens for the ball machines can be purchased at Outdoor Recreation for $5. Clubs can also be rented for a $10 deposit and $10 payment.

  • Fishing

    Fishing is available on Seymour Johnson AFB for all of our outdoor enthusiasts. A permit is necessary to partake in this leisure sport.

    Fishing Permits
    Fishers over the age of 16 will need a North Carolina Fishing License which can be found here. Children 15 and under do not need a license as long as they are accompanied by an adult who has one.

  • Hunting

    SJAFB has four large, private, and enclosed hunting areas equipped with elevated tree stands. Game permitted for hunting and harvesting (during appropriate seasons) are whitetail deer, feral hogs, coyote, and turkeys. Hunters may use shotguns, muzzle-loading rifles, muskets, or bows as permitted.

    September 1, 2023 - August 31, 2024

    2023-2024 Deer Hunting Season:
    September 9, 2023 - January 1, 2024*

    2024 Turkey Hunting Season
    April 6 - May 11, 2024*

    Requirements for hunting on SJAFB:

    • DOD ID Card Holder
    • North Carolina Big Game Hunting License
    • Hunters Education Training Course (
    • SJAFB Outdoor Recreation Annual Sportsman Card.

    How to obtain your SJAFB Outdoor Recreation Annual Sportsman Card:

    • Review the 2023-2024 Hunting Program Brief
    • Complete and pass the 2023 Annual Sportsman’s Test
      • Hunters must score 18 points or higher to pass the 2023 Annual Sportsman’s Test. If a hunter scores less than 18 points, they may select “Edit Response” to retake the test until they receive a passing score.
    • Once you’ve passed the 2023 Annual Sportsman’s Test, bring the following documentation with you to Outdoor Recreation to receive your SJAFB Outdoor Recreation Annual Sportsman Card:
      • DOD ID Card
      • North Carolina Big Game Hunting License
      • Proof of Completion: Hunters Education Training Course (
      • Payment Method for $10 Sportsman's Card Fee

    How to sign up for a hunting area:

    • Check availability here: SJAFB Hunting Calendar | Teamup
    • Contact Outdoor Recreation to reserve your hunting area!
    • Reservations can be made up to one week in advance, hunters can reserve each hunting area once per week.
    • The daily reservation fee for each hunting area is $5.
    • You MUST be a SJAFB Outdoor Recreation Annual Sportsman Card holder to reserve a hunting area.
  • Log Cabin

    A multipurpose recreational facility, available for hosting special events. The rental fee is $60 per day with a $50 cleaning deposit. Call to reserve.

  • Pool

    The Olympic pool features an awesome water slide, certified lifeguards, a bathhouse, and a concession stand. Lap swim is also available for those 18 and older. Make sure to stop by during open months to make a splash!

  • ITT

    SJAFB's Information, Tickets, & Travel program offers a variety of discounted tickets and information. ITT expands beyond the local area and offers discounts all throughout North Carolina. Discounted tickets may include places like Disney World, Universal Studios, & much more! Purchasing tickets through Outdoor Rec can SAVE you MONEY!
