How to get here
Depending on where you are coming from is the key factor for traveling to Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area. The initial goal is to reach Wilmington, NC by the route that suites your needs the best. Primary routes for getting to Wilmington NC are I-40 East and US17 North or South. There are ample signs in Wilmington for Fort Fisher and are easy to follow. They actually refer to the Fort Fisher State Park but the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation area is on the same route and about 2 miles up from the State Park.

The route through Wilmington is straight through to Carolina Beach, then Kure Beach. Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area is in the Kure Beach community. For additional directional support we suggest going to www.mapquest.com.

We have provided a “zoomed in” map of the Wilmington, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach areas. Primary roads to Ft. Fisher Air Force Recreation Area are shown, as is the location of the Ft. Fisher Air Force Recreation Area entrance. Once on-site, continue straight in past the flag pole, around a slight curve and then you will see a directional sign pointing the way to our Reception Center.
