Fitness Center renovations underway

Phase I of a two-part renovation project to the Fitness Center’s main entryway and administrative area began early in December. During Phase I, the front entrance is inaccessible to unauthorized personnel. Patrons will enter through the Distinguished Visitor (DV) entrance located on the Langley Avenue side of the building, to the left of the main entrance. The DV entrance is the only authorized entry/exit point until the project is completed next summer. The 24-hour unmanned access will have limited availability and could be down for several weeks during construction.

Additionally, the racquetball and Wallyball courts will be closed for two to three weeks; closure dates to be posted depending on the contractor’s timeline. The Women’s Locker Room will be inaccessible for approximately two months; the Men’s DV Locker Room will be the interim Women’s Locker Room. The main Men’s Locker Room entry/exit point will be relocated to the rear door, closer to the Free Weight Room.

Plans call for demolition of the current front desk as well as interior walls facing the lobby and hallway leading to the Women’s Locker Room. New walls will be built in the lobby, expanding the administrative and storage area behind the scenes, and the front counter will get a fresh new look, complete with architectural detailing. The Women’s Locker Room entrance will be relocated down the hall, adjacent to the Men’s Locker Room when the project is complete.

Fitness Center Unmanned Fitness Access Program (After Hours Access)

– Register at the Fitness Center with your CAC (Retirees/dependents will receive a Fitness Access card)
– Read and sign Unmanned Access Statement of Understanding
– Take a tour of the facility- Complete an equipment orientation (if needed)
***PLEASE note Unmanned Fitness hours are from 10:10 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. during the week and from 5:10 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Customers will not be able to access the Fitness Center during these hours until they have registered.

Air Force Sports Program

The Air Force Sports Program (AFSP) is designed to allow Active Duty, National Guard and Air Force Reserve members an opportunity to participate at Air Force, Armed Forces, national and international sporting competitions. The AFSP is comprised of 15 different sports (for complete list see the AFSP calendar).  To apply for the program, athletes must submit a completed AF Form 303, Request for USAF Specialized Sports Training.  Experience cited in higher level competition and recent significant performances in the sport are important to the selection criteria. Experience listed in section IV should be in reverse chronological order, beginning with the most recent and working backwards. Finally, athletes must obtain supervisor’s, commander’s, and Fitness Center Director’s endorsements on the AF Form 303. Athletes selected for training are invited to attend trial camps and other Air Force championship events. Trial camps are short in duration, physically demanding, mentally challenging and highly competitive. Athletes should be in top condition for the trial camps to best showcase their talents and abilities to the coach and other officials who will select the AF team.
