  Private Animal Care

AF Star Bullet
About us . . .

The Private Animal Care clinic is designed to provide complete veterinary medical care for all Government owned animals and to provide for the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases (transmitted from animal to man).

The Cherry Point Army veterinarian provides weekly vaccination clinics by appointment only. We do not see sick or injured animals.

We sponsor year-round dog obedience classes and can provide help on caring for kittens and puppies. Base regulations require residents to register their pets within 10 days of moving on the installation.

Up-to-date vaccinations, to include a rabies certificate, are required on record. Please call us for an appointment to bring in your pet and pet records to register.

All clinic visits are by appointment only, so please call us at (919) 722-1465.

Attention pet owners

SJAFBI 31-105 states the following:

Section B1

All pets kept on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base will be registered with the 4 MG/SGV within 10 days of bringing the pet onto the base.

B1 B1.1

Rabies immunization will be documented by the Veterinary Treatment Facility (Bldg #2509). A Rabies Vaccination Certificate plus a metal vaccination tag will be given to the owner at the time the vaccination is accomplished. A copy of the certificate will be maintained in the VTF. The metal tag will be worn by the animal at all times.

In order to provide zoonotic disease control on base, it is necessary to have annual vaccinations (distemper, hepatitis, lepto, parainfluenza, parvo), fecal examinations and heartworm tests on record. This process constitutes animal registration.

An annual weigh-in and update of the animal’s records is required to maintain a clinic/patient relationship and to purchase items from the VTF. Records are purged annually, and those that are not up-to-date are removed. This holds true for off-base clients as well.

If you need to get these things up-to-date, please call us at 722-1465 to make an appointment.
