About us . . .

The Fitness and Sports center is a fully equipped facility capable of providing a large variety of sports and fitness programs for all members of the Seymour Johnson community. Over 600 customers use the Fitness Center daily. The exercise area is divided into three areas: Cardiovascular, Selectorized Weight Training Machines, and Free Weights.

The cardiovascular area is equipped with treadmills, bikes, steppers, and total body workout cross trainers. Televisions have been installed in the cardiovascular area for your enjoyment.

In the Selectorized Machine area there are a total of 34 machines, at least two machines for muscle. Most of the equipment is made by Life Fitness.The Free Weight area has a full set of benches, bars, weight plates, and dumbbells.

Other indoor facilities include a basketball, volleyball, three racquetball courts and locker rooms. Daily use lockers are available.

Our outdoor facilities include two basketball and four tennis courts, roller skating area, two softball fields, football/soccer field, two mile jogging track, and a 1/4 mile track. Our outdoor facilities have lights for night time use.

 

We welcome everyone to take part in our sports programs. Our Intramural/Extramural sports programs include flag football, basketball, volleyball, softball, bowling, golf, racquetball, and some running events. We also support varsity sports teams in softball, basketball, and soccer.

We encourage you to visit the Fitness Center at least three times a week to workout and stay fit. If you need help to get started or meeting your fitness goal, we offer free certified personal trainers, by appointment only, to help you develop your individual fitness program.

If you are active duty military, guard or reserve personnel (on active status during the period of competition), you are eligible to participate in the Air Force Sports Program. You will need to submit an AF Form 303, Request for USAF Specialized Sports Training, by the date noted for your chosen sport. AF Form 303s are available at your local fitness center. The application must be endorsed by your supervisor and unit commander, and then given to the installation fitness center director, who will forward it to Headquarters Air Force Services Agency (HQ AFSVA).

Applications must be received at HQ AFSVA no later than 45 days prior to the first day of the trial camp you are applying for. Information included on the AF Form 303 includes a reverse chronological listing of sports experience, starting with most recent events. You should specify name of events in which you participated, level/division of play, results (to include specific age category if applicable), awards, commendations and references. Copies of press releases may be forwarded, as well as letters of recommendation. If you played on a team sport, include name, location and classification of team, along with team results.

The Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) is a two-year program that provides active duty, national guard and reserve Air Force personnel the opportunity to train and compete at national and international sports competitions with the ultimate goal of selection to the United States Olympic team. The WCAP is not a developmental program; it targets athletes who have achieved world class status in their sport. Applications for the WCAP must be submitted using the Air Force Form 303, Request for USAF Specialized Sports Training. Candidates national ranking, ability and potential will be verified through the United States Olympic Committee’s National Governing Body of the sport. If selected, the athlete will be assigned to Headquarters Air Force Services Agency, San Antonio, Texas, with a duty location near elite coaches and/or world class training facilities. Candidates must remain competitive for a U.S Olympic team position to remain in the program, which ends with the Olympic Trials or after competing with the national team at the Olympics.
